Moist Sugar Free Banana Bread

At the start of the year, the time when many a resolution is made, I promised more healthy recipes making an appearance on the blog. Not only to make it easier for myself to stick to my resolution and maintain a healthier lifestyle, but to make delicious, healthy recipes that are as sinful as their unhealthy counterparts.

When you switch to a healthier way of eating, it doesn’t just have to be days on end of salads and soups and depriving yourself of all your favorite desserts. This Banana Bread is absolutely delicious and sugar free and proof that you can be healthy and eat desserts without much guilt!

I tested it out on my father, the king of sugar, and he didn’t find any difference at all! Which is big, let me tell you- Indian sweets contain a bucket load of sugar and ghee and whatever unhealthy sweet ingredient you can find. Growing up, we didn’t make too many of those Indian desserts unless the grandparents were coming to stay and my Dad was always the taste-tester. He could tell if we had reduced the amount of sugar by a teaspoon. A teaspoon!

So I really don’t need any more assurance that this sugar free banana bread version is just as good, if not better, then the sugar filled banana bread version.

In my world, a couple of ripe bananas sitting at home immediately equal to banana bread. There is no other dessert I enjoy that contains bananas other than this. I think it probably dates back to second grade when my teacher made banana chocolate chip cookies for the entire class and shared her recipe. That was a pivotal point in my life- the moment from which the banana bread madness spread through my family!

It’s the perfect thing to enjoy with tea or coffee, indulge in for breakfast or as a sweet treat on a long afternoon. This Banana Bread has perfected the balance between moist and crumbly, is light and filled with the delicious flavor of bananas with just a whisper of cinnamon. Just top with some melted chocolate like I did, or for a real treat, warm up and place a large scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
